On the eve of September 15 — Knowledge Day, on the initiative of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, with the support of Kapital Bank and Mastercard, a social project was held for residents of the village of Aghaly, Zangilan district. As part of the project, a meeting was held in the new building of the village school, where the first 48 families of IDPs who returned to Aghaly could learn about the innovations in the field of cashless payments introduced for the villagers.

The meeting was attended by Executive Director of the Central Bank Farid Osmanov, Head of the East Zangezur Regional Department of Education of the Ministry of Science and Education Fuad Badalov, Head of the Public Relations Division of Kapital Bank Parviz Sadraddinov, Representative of Mastercard in Azerbaijan Emil Zeynalov and an employee of the Special Representative Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Zangilan district Agil Gurbanov.

During the event, residents of Aghaly were provided with information about the formation of a cashless payments ecosystem, which is one of the most significant components of the “smart village” concept. As part of the implemented measures, the economic entities operating in Aghaly were provided with all the necessary means to accept non-cash payments. In order to form alternative payment opportunities, payment terminals have been set-up in the village of Aghaly. The local community also has a chance to top-up the balance of their bank accounts and payment cards 24/7. Accounts were opened and cards were issued to all residents who applied for a bank card.

In addition, with the support of Kapital Bank and Mastercard, a special cashback offer has been launched in Aghaly. Mastercard holders can receive a 10% cashback for cashless payments in economic entities operating in the village.

As part of the social project, students of the secondary school of the village of Agali were also gifted with Educational Smart Cards and tablets so that students could use modern technologies for education.
