“FINTEX SUMMIT 2025” concludes with Kapital Bank as a strategic partner

One of the most prominent international financial events held annually in Azerbaijan “FINTEX SUMMIT 2025” has officially concluded. The summit was organized by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan Banks Association, with sponsorship from the international payment system Visa, and in partnership with Kapital Bank. This year’s theme was: “New trends in the banking and financial ecosystem: digital integration, fintech partnerships, and cybersecurity.”

During the summit, seven panel discussions were held, where experts explored a wide range of topics including the application of financial technologies, the digital payment ecosystem, the use of artificial intelligence in banking, open banking, evolving models of bank-fintech collaboration, cybersecurity, and data protection in the digital environment.

As part of the panel discussion titled “Digital Azerbaijan: The future of the payment industry with a Visa at the forefront” moderated by Visa’s country manager in Azerbaijan, Nurlan Hajiyev, a session titled “Shaping the Future: The role of Kapital Bank in the development of digital banking in Azerbaijan” was held. Zakir Khanmammadov, Head of the Payment Systems Office at Kapital Bank, participated in the session as an expert. He shared his insights on the future of the banking industry and prospects for the financial sector in the near future:

“The banking sector is set to experience significant transformation in the coming years. We will see changes across many areas. Artificial intelligence will be applied in all aspects from operations and analytics to customer service. Traditional plastic card infrastructure will give way to biometric and token-based identification systems. In particular, the South Caucasus region will witness a rapid expansion of digital commerce. Today, customers expect faster, more stable, inclusive, and secure services. At Kapital Bank, we rely on technology, innovation, and a customer-centric approach to develop our services in line with evolving expectations and market demands.”

During his speech, Zakir Khanmammadov noted that in 2018, when the Birbank mobile application was first introduced to customers, it had only 30,000 users. Today, more than 3 million people trust the Birbank app. He emphasized that Birbank is not just a mobile application but a key element in the digital transformation of the country's financial sector and in shaping people’s financial behavior. He added that offering all solutions (from transportation and shopping to online and QR payments) within a single app is truly a development of national significance.

The event brought together around 300 international and regional organizations, with nearly 50 local and international speakers sharing their expertise and experience in the field of financial technologies.
